12. The Anger of Bhima took 100 lives

There was a Poem which I read in school titled "A Poison Tree" by William Blake where the poet describes about repressing anger and the consequences of doing so. The Poet tells of how they fail to communicate their wrarth to their foe and how this continues to grow until it develops into poisonous hatred.

During these days of lockdown, the show of Mahabharata is being telecast. I saw one thing in five Pandavas that they were tortured very much. Yudhishthira would always ignore the mistake of his younger brothers (Kauravas), Arjun would always find the solution to the problems, Nakula and Sahadev always followed the path of Yudhishthira, but Bhima used to keep the anger of those atrocities inside his mind.

Considering the words of brother Yudhishthira as the father's order, Bhima would calm down but suppressed the anger in his mind. The day Shakuni and Duryodhana poisoned Bhima and for which Maharaja Dhritrastra did not punish his son (Duryodhana) , Bhima ignited a spark of anger in his mind and as the days passed, the tyranny of Kauravas increased and the five Pandavas endured. Except the four Pandavas, Bhima let that anger flare.

On the day when Draupati rip-off took place, the other four Pandavas were silent because of the compulsion, but Bhima turned the fire of his anger into a flame. Vowed to kill 100  Kauravas, as well as to dislodge both the hands and tear the chest of Dushashan. Also to wash the hairs of Draupati with the blood of Dushashan, and vowed to drink that blood, along with breaking the thighs of Duryodhana. Seeing this form of Bhima, the whole assembly got frightened but Bhima got quiet at the behest of Yudhishthira---- AGAIN REPRESSED ANGER. Pandavas Got 12 years of exile and 1 year of confinement, every day and night, Bhima kept offering vengeance on the fire of his anger.

And that fire of anger erupted on the day of the war. Yudhishthir did not stop Bhima that day, due to which Bhima's anger had become like hot coals, no one dared to calm Bhima's flames of the rage that was raging in his heart for several years.

Bhima believed that "HE SHOULD DIE FOR THE ONE WHO LOVES AND TAKE THE LIFE OF THE ENEMITY SHOWN"

While fighting, rest of the Pandavas fought as per their War-strategy but Bhima was like a shell of fire on the Kauravas. It is said that Bhima had the power of 10,000 Elephants, but in the war, the flame of vengeance was more than the strength of 10,000 Elephants.

Bhima gave a terrible death to each Kaurava. According to his swearing, both the hands of Dushashan were dislodged,  the chest was torn, washed the hairs of Draupati with the blood of Dushashan, also drank that blood. Duryodhana kept watching the death of his 99 brothers but failed to stop Bhima. And finally, according to his oath, he also broke Duryodhana's thighs.

Then Bhima's anger subsided. Bhima's anger has consumed lives of 100 Kauravas.
